She worked as Prepress Department Manager and Graphic Designer for two printing companies in the Valley — Crested Butte Printing with Jeff Neumann, 1995–1998, and B&B Printers with Jim Stanley and the Stanley family, 2007–2015.

From 1998 on, Kathy in tandem, operated her own design business and designed and produced the Crested Butte Magazine alongside Sandy Fails for over ten years, working with local writers, photographers and editors in the Valley.
